PPC Task Manager Available
Weve been sent details of a new? Task Manager for the PPC by BakiSoft: "The Pocket PC 2003 is a great tool for many things beyond basic PDA functionality. It is a true computer with surprising speed and capabilities, the limits of which are confined only to the imaginations of software developers and end users." Yes, I think we are aware at this site that you can use just a tiny bit more than PIM tools with a PPC.
"As Windows developers, as well as users, we were surprised that there was no Task Manager program included with the operating system. So we decided to create one. Task Manager PPC was developed with two purposes in mind. The first was to provide users with the capability of viewing running applications and processes with a friendly user interface. The second was to provide developers with a means to view current running state details for any process." So there you go. I can't seem to find a demo version though. The developer's website also looks like it could use a bit of TLC at the moment. All the links appear to be broken and the last update I can locate was last August :?
It is true that it would be great to have a real task manager included with PPCs as standard. Has anyone used this, or any other task manager for the PPC? Thoughts?

I use Wisbar Advanced for mine and well, cheaper and does what I need for task management. .
Their contacts on their site being listed as:
E-Mail [email protected]
Phone (xxx) xxx-xxxx
Help Web Site: Widgets Help Web Site
The Help web site is a link to: http://www.microsoft.com/widgets (a broken link)
This doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their company.

task manager
If you are really hankering for a very good task(and process) manager, be sure to check out Pocket Hack Master. You know the name, most trust it, and its process manager is tops. For purely task management, then Wisbar is definately the way to go, there are skins that blend it into whatever you are used to, and also skins which merge it in with Dashboard. Definately worth a look.

I have to agree with the comments here - not worth it for what it does (just from looking at it and not using it). So what is the advantage of using this?

While I use WisBar Advanced to view running tasks (WisBar does more than just this), there are times when I wish I could see running "processes". That's when I fire up PHM's Task Manager (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/TaskMgr/). Task Manager has the ability to view and stop running processes, so that eventhough WisBar doesn't show it running, Task Manager will.

VBAR (http://www.vieka.com/vbar.htm) from Vieka, is excellent, small footprint, free, and easy to use. $20 is far too much for something like this, unless you are a developer yourself. PHM Task Manager is also good for seeing processes.
