infoSync Previews Asus's A730
"In a package considerably smaller than Toshiba's Pocket PC e805, which may very well be the A730's closest competitor, ASUS has managed to include a next-generation Intel XScale processor running at a whopping 520 MHz, 128 MB of RAM, dual CompactFlash Type II expansion slots and an SDIO capable SD/MMC Card expansion slot."
We've been getting a ton of submissions on this article, so I guess everyone is following up on every last little detail on this sweet-looking device. infoSync has a nice picture of the display in action.

I'm sure he means : "dual slots, one of which is a compact flash, and the other SD/MMC"

The device does not have two CF slots. Some of the documentation ASUS has at its CeBIT booth says "Compact Flash II, Type II", but that's a typo. It's suppposed to read "Compact Flash, Type II" As tonyv says, it has two slots, CF and SD/MMC.

Now that is nice! I wish more manufactures would just get it that CF still has some life in it. I would love to see a solution with the SD card occupying an internal slot, something similar to a SIM card in cell phones. Possibly locate it under the removeable battery.
The price of SD just isn't moving down fast enough. I just ordered that deal from Amazon. $69.99 512mb CF, plus I'll use the $30 rebate that comes with it
Way to go Asus!

I'm quoting the infoSync article. He meant to say dual CF/SD, but it comes out slightly vague. I don't think I should quote him differently, though... right?

hope it's durable
Specs are fab, but..
I hope they make this unit durable, and quirk-free, (unlike the A620) or at least release patches like HP does if problems do surface.
Still, I'm waiting for HP to outdo this, or maybe even Toshiba...
