LG Pocket PC Phone Edition - But No North American Release Planned
"LG Electronics Co. Ltd. becomes the latest mobile phone manufacturer to team with software giant Microsoft Corp. as it gears up to release its new LG-SC8000 smart phone running Microsofts Pocket PC operating system. LG will release the device in its home market of South Korea. The advanced handset features an integrated megapixel digital camera, support for CDMA EV-DO networks, an Intel Corp. processor and a sliding keypad design. The phone is scheduled to be available next month."
Although LG isn't exactly a household name in North America, they're a sizable company with a long reach. Unfortunately, it seems that while LG will sell a Symbian-based device in Europe, the Pocket PC-based device will be sold in Korea only.

LG (Goldstar) makes some pretty decent optical drives for computers. The company that I work for has carried their CD-RWs and DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo drives for quite some time...
On these items, LG has had a VERY respectable return policy and warranty service.
Just my two bits.

In fact, LG CDRW units and DVD burners have won lots of PC magazine editors choice. LG is also a big player in south america... their quality is similar to samsung, IMO. Hope they release this toy here!

Sure, absolutely - I've had several LG drives over the years, and they were great! But my point was that if you talked to the average consumer and asked them who LG was, most would not know - LG isn't in the same leagues as hp, toshiba, etc.

Get this in America please!!!!
Great!!! one of the few CDMA phone PPCs and it may not be coming to America. In this case ignorance in bliss but knowledge of this unit is frustrating. It is bad enough that many new phone editions are GSM/GPRS (ya ya I know because of market share). Curses to economies of scale. :multi: I guess I'm still in the company of the i700 and the G1000.

I don't see this as being the next iPAQ. That unit is supposed to be quadband GSM/GPRS, not a CDMA device.
