Default engadget: Gadgets Galore

http://www.engadget.com/

Peter Rojas, formerly of Gizmodo, has launched a new online venture dubbed "engadget". It looks pretty much identical to the format that Gizmodo has, so you can tell that Peter's passion for gadgets hasn't waned - it's just a location change. Here's a message from Peter about the change:

"Back in August of 2002 I helped found Gizmodo, the gadgets weblog. It was a labor of love, but never intended as more than a part-time freelance job. After nineteen months Ive decided to take a risk and launch a new site that will let me do what I want: Blog about gadgets full-time. In partnership with The Weblogs, Inc. Network (WIN), Ive launched Engadget (www.engadget.com), where Im already posting obsessively about everything exciting on gadgets and personal technology. PS - Id like to thank everyone who has expressed their support for Engadget already, its much appreciated."

Best of luck in the new venture Peter!

That explains why Gizmodo has slowed down to a crawl. I'll have to watch this new site carefully, because Peter has a good style of summarizing what goes on in the tech world.

I was thinking about removing Gizmodo from my "The Usual" tab set in Mozilla Firefox. Instead, I've added engadget. I'll try both for a while and then decide...

Gizmodo has a new editor, and is looking pretty spiffy again. Two good blogs where once was one - sounds good to me 8).

Hope Pete picks up some advertising soon; I'm sure his site is attracting mucho hits...

Send a message via MSN to Eraserhead

But dont you find it strange that Pete Rojas is leaving Gizmodo to start another page which is almost exactly the same stuff!

But hey, if theyll both get updated its fine by me.

Also that Cargo mag looks intresting.

Sounds to me like that Peter is doing it full-time now, and presumably owns a stake in the business side with engadget.

Nick (publisher of Gizmodo) has had success finding replacements before (esp. for Gawker, a NYC gossip rag-blog), so I expect he'll succeed with Gizmodo as well. 8)
