MyVGA 1.1 Released
I'm glad to see the MyVGA project has outgrown its earlier controversy, and is now adding very cool features. For those of you that don't know, MyVGA is a tool for Toshiba e800/e805 users that provides 480x640 support as well as landscape.
New features in v1.1 include file swapping (enabling the use of different icons, etc. in high-res mode), reverse landscape (i.e., counterclockwise rotation; incomplete, but almost there), and custom timings support (to be used at your own risk). And, just like the previous version, it's free. 8) You can get more information and can download it from the support forum linked above.

I get to pick up my e805 in a couple of hours. (Been using an Ipaq 3750 for a couple of years now---touchscreen is starting to go). Does anyone have an opinion on whether this res switcher is better, worse, same as the competition? Does it have the dead spot problem? I know this one is open source but other than that, how do they stack up?

this just begs the question....
Any new news on MS coming out with their next PPC OS release? Wasn't this screen resolution and ability to go landscape or portrait suppose to be part of the new OS?
Can't find the old thread that discussed this otherwise I would have posted this comment there.... :lurking:

ATraveler: I have heard that MyVGA is better and provides a nicer interface. There are extensive discussions about the differences at brighthand - but you'd have to sift through a lot of stuff to get it - or just ask again? 
possmann: I heard somewhere on this board that the 2004 version will be primarily bug fixes. If this is true, I wouldn't expect anything major until 2005.

I had been using ResFix 1.0 (the free version) for 10 days or so before I switched over to myVGA. There's no question myVGA is more convenient
and functional than ResFix 1.0 (I didn't try pay version ResFix 2.0, or the other program ResSwitch). myVGA is also a lot smaller and really easy to install -- you just copy the .exe to your PocketPC (anywhere). It sounds like upgrading will be just as easy.
The "dead spot" problem is solved by copying the file install_undead.exe (13.5kB) to your PPC and running it. Sorry, I have temporarily forgotten the username of the person who wrote the "undead" utility.

If you don't let the undead do its thing, then the upper left part of your screen (including the Start icon) will remain zombied. At this point, I know of no other daemon that can exorcise this nightmare.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Based on the overwhelming sentiment here, myVGA will be installed as soon as my e805 finishes its initial charge. (Aren't I being a good boy? :wink: )
Incidentally, is it just me or does this site seem to be painfully slow for everyone this afternoon? (If it's just me then troubleshooting may keep me busy the rest of the charging cycle.) :roll:
