SimpleTech Announces 8GB Type II CF Card
"SimpleTech, Inc., a designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom and open-standard memory solutions based on Flash memory and DRAM technologies, today announced the industry's highest capacity CompactFlash with an 8 GB Type II card using the Company's patented stacking technology. The Company also announced 2, 4 and 5 GB Type I cards and a significant increase to the write speed of its entire ProX line of CompactFlash cards. The products will be unveiled at the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) trade show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from February 12-15, 2004."
The price isn't specifically mentioned, but the price range is from $89.99 to $5,999. I bet the upper end of the range is what the 8GB card costs.

It's great to see that CF cards are still getting bigger. I'm really glad that I have a two slot device.
Of course I have no intention (even if I could afford it) of spending thousands of dollars on a memory card, but hopefully 2 or 4 GB cards will be available at competitive prices soon. I would love to be able to replace my 1GB card with a much larger one.

For that money I could get an e805, usb host cord, a 20+ gig hard drive (ultra-compact), and pay a company to build me a driver for it.
I could use an 805...

Give it a few years - or less - and we'll all have one of these. 8)
