Pocket Icon: Icon Editor for the Pocket PC
"Pocket Icon is a powerful, easy to use utility for creating and editing icons(.ico files). With Pocket Icon you can create and edit icons with image formats in standard sizes(up to 64x64 pixels), and in color depths up to 16 million colors on your PocketPC or PocketPC 2002!
Why Pocket Icon? Lots of designers, artists and software developers spend long hours sitting at their PCs creating icons. But creating icons is one of the very few tasks that is more easily and more conveniently implemented with a Pocket PC: with your Pocket PC you can settle comfortably in an arm chair at home or lie under a tree while having a picnic, you can save your time doing the job while waiting in a traffic jam or in a queue! And pay your special attention to the fact that you won't need a keyboard or mouse, you can use the most natural tool for drawing - a stylus!"
This software looks fantastic! If you've ever created icons before, you'll understand that icons are literally assembeled pixel by pixel. It's extremely detailed work, and often the mouse seems like a cumbersome tool. I've only ever done icons "professionally" once (for a client), and boy would I have loved to use my Pocket PC instead! There's even an icon discussion forum. I love seeing solutions like this for the Pocket PC - natural extensions of what the platform is best at. Keep up the great work developers!

Does it seem to anyone else the distribution of colors to select from is rather random? Any reason why they do this? I'd think it would start with white in the upper left, then slowly progress in shades to black in the lower right or something like that (jumping colors when necessary)..

It may be off-topic, but...
Does anyone know a program to take the icon from my PPC apps installed on my SD Card and save them to .ICO or all the icon I need in a DLL maybe. So when I browse my menu, it didn't have to open all files just to get the icons!
I would prefer a program that do that directly on my pocketPC.
I've never try to open the .EXE with microangelo on my PC, I will try that tonight... then I will just have to redo the shorcut....

They appear to be grouped in vertical bands by hue. It does look a little random at first, but you can see a progession from blue to red as you move from left to right. The "random" colors along the left side appear to be made up of mostly the basic 16-color Windows system palette.

If you go to their web site and select screenshots is shows the colors displayed in different orders so it must be configurable.

I wish I knew about this program earlier. This seems a lot easier then some of the PC apps I use. And this is free.

Here is a thread on Brighthand http://discussion.brighthand.com/sho...687#post511687 that has a lot of info on icons on the PPC and an app for viewing icon resource files on the PPC.
It would be nice if there was an app that could view icon resource files and extract and edit on the PPC like Michroangelo and ArtIcons on the PC.
As it is, I either point to the original icon resource (.exe, .dll, etc) on the PPC or I extract\edit on the PC and create my own resource file (.dll).
