Smallest 802.11b Router?
Looking for a wireless router to pack along with your Pocket PC on trips? APC might have the solution for you...
It only has 802.11b support, but it's micro-sized: only 5.5oz! That's lighter than many Pocket PCs. 8O It doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet, but one site claims it will be ~ $100, which isn't a bad price. This might be a better solution than carrying around a wired Ethernet card in certain situations.

Wow, with these devices getting smaller and smaller, hiding APs for hackers, corporate espionage, etc, will become a lot easier.

thinking here....
No more long, boring, hotel meetings without access. I get room on the first floor near the conference rooms. Then leave my laptop on and connected to the wall's high speed access, shut down MAC address', fire up the 4100 and I'm all good....and now it's small enough to carry in my laptop bag.
SWEET

Wow, I was browsing the WEB today wondering if such a thing existed. Either that or a little BT AP that you could hook to the hotel's wired ethernet port. Wonder how it is for configuring if all you have is a PPC.
JohnJohn, you wouldn't need this if you are going to wire in your laptop and leave it on. Just set up and ad-hoc connection, ICS, and away you go.
Wait a minute, I just looked at the specs.
Net Height 13.3 inches (33.7 cm)
Net Width 11.6 inches (29.4 cm)
Net Depth 2.70 inches (6.86 cm)
That's bigger than my Linksys. Am I missing something? The picture doesn't make it look like that.

True. Now I can sell MAC access to my co-workers for beers though.

I'm puzzled - Maybe Janak can clarify - When I saw the page originally, the specs read differently, I'm certain?
Or, I confused the link specs with this one: http://usa.asus.com/products/communi...0/overview.hTm
Somedays I'm an ant

The product in your link is rather large. The one in DB's link is, I believe, the one you wanted to post on.

As small as a deck of cards, the Pocket Wireless AP WL-330 is not only a wireless access point (AP) but also a wireless bridge/ repeater and wireless Ethernet adapter; providing superior flexibility when building a wireless environment! Moreover, WL-330 is a plug n' play device. Set up a wireless environment is never difficult to you.

Sigh, I think you're right. But the APC one is pretty small too... just not nearly as small.
I'll make another post, I guess? Or do I edit this one? This is kind of uncharted territory. 8O
