Default HP Comments On Recent Growth In Marketshare

http://www.ameinfo.com/news/Detailed/32527.html

"According to IDC's report, HP stunned the handheld industry with phenomenal unit growth of 100.3 percent year-over-year and 52.5 percent sequentially. HP not only led the overall growth of the handheld industry, but also moved significantly closer to the No. 1 position in the overall PDA category. HP remains the No. 1 worldwide Pocket PC vendor."

We posted on the original report here.

Congratulations HP, I really like my 1910
unfortunately I think Ill not upgrade it to a h1940, instead im thinking in getting a e805 for reading some stuff that normally I would use the libretto for the higher resolution.

but to go out of my house Ill still use my 1910

ps: reading this news item the first thing I thought was the merge compaq+hp

The simple fact is that they have a dizzying array of devices and excellent distribution. They listen to demands, and innovate to keep the geeks happy. My 4155 is a nearly perfect device, but it took hp many tries to get to this. Hats off to hp/Compaq .

I really like the Related Information at the bottom. Too bad they don't write anything about HP Middle East.

HP has so many IPAQ options I have to revisit my priorities when a new one comes out - and remind myself I really can hold only one in each hand at a time! The truth is, since I moved to a new office without wireless and I decided to dedicate one slot to pictures taken on my Canon Rebel (a CF camera), I have pretty much settled on my 2215. I think the next move will be when HP comes out with a VGA resolution unit - this year I hope - and SOONER would be better!

Not sure where the suprise is coming from.

It was a rough start early on for everyone. Dust in the screen, poor quality builds, poor upgrade paths (or non-exsistant).

Then came the feedback from the user audience (which I hope hepled some) and/or they got their act together and came back with higher quality machines, removed the dust issue (yes some manufacutres are still releasing units that have this issue even at 500 bucks *cough*toshiba*cough*) and actually gave a few options to upgrade. not to mention some unique design choices.

So to me... the suprise isn't why they are on top. The thing that suprises me is why hasn't the other manufacturers caught on and stepped up to the plate?
