Default PDA Gold Reviews XDA 2 Pocket PC Phone Edition

http://www.pdagold.com/articles/detail.asp?a=125

"After somewhat uncertain beginnings, it seems that T-Mobile has eventually started paying due attention to the Pocket PC segment. It has been a long time since they introduced the first MDA, and much has changed over the 13 months since then. Let me say straight away that although I was able to test only a pre-production model, MDA II simply astounded me. Its elegant design, excellent parameters and an incredibly great offer of bonus applications loaded in the ROM make MDA II a great pocket device."

Hmmm....why the performance differences shown with Spb benchmark tests between MDA II & XDA II?

The thought of an iPaq and phone replacement such as this is very appealing. Apparently it uses the same screen as my beloved 3970, which is just astonishing, and I would love this device, but, the Sony Erricson P900 has been released, and so far is equally appealing, but it is a phone first, pda second.

Dunno, I admit I just love new toys, the P800 looks like a toy, this XDA II, MDA II or iMate, just seems too good to be true, but the P900 is there too, and both to me seem to be perfect in form and function.
Any one else in a similar position trying to decide between the two?

Ok, I'm confused.
The last review on the MDA2 that I read specifically stated that you could NOT use a Bluetooth GPS and this one says you can.
Hmmmmm... who to believe.....

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Unfortunately, that kills the deal for me. The backpack with the "upside down" CF slot won't work very well for in-car navigation with a CF GPS card, so it's all about Bluetooth.

Hopefully this is either incorrect or something that can be fixed (soon) by the OEM.

Still no word on a U.S. release date... I got all excited until I figured out that PDAGold is based in the Czech Republic...

If anyone would like to send me a bluetooth GPS receiver, I'll be glad to try it on my XDA II (i-mate) and report back on it.

You probably read a review that was a few days older. At that time you couldn't use a GPS Bluetooth reciever. :)
There's a hack now which makes it work supposedly:

However, I don't believe the MDA 2 includes a fix for using Bluetooth GPS. But I'm sure you WILL be able to use Bluetooth GPS when some software is updated.

This is insane - I had tossed out the idea to get the MDAII, for the arrival of the N7700 next summer, but of course, here this review rekindles my interest.... the screen seems untouchable.

Though, I currently have a CSK, and it will be difficult to give up a dedicated keyboard. Once I get a good look at it.... I might cave and go for the MDAII - that is until the N7700 comes
