Default Closer Than Ever is an Absolute Truth

http://www.bargainpda.com/default.a...owComments=true

Think of something that hasn't occurred but possibly will. Most Bluetooth products would fall into this category and therefore "Closer Than Ever" is an appropriate description for most things Bluetooth. So thinks Brian Beeler at BargainPDA too and uses the headline "Bluetooth Keyboards Closer Than Ever" for one of his articles.

"It was January of this year when I first got jazzed about the prospect of a Bluetooth keyboard for PDAs. At the CES Targus told me they had one in the works that would be delivered by mid-2003. Guess what, it never happened. However, there is another player with one in the works that will likely be released this year."

Other "Closer Than Ever"-products would include: 3G Windows Mobile devices, Pocket PCs with integrated GPS and spam free e-mail. Take your pick!

Check this bad boy out: http://www.pdatoday.com/weblog.php?id=P862 and for you mobile readers here is the Mobile Friendly Page Sorry I would upload a picture but I dont see that option.

I would say that is closer than ever, but we are still waiting for our demo unit, my fingers have been crossed for about a week now.

I really hope the unit that BargainPDA is getting is a differnt brand, that would really usher in the next big bluetooth craze I think. Two bluetooth keyboards and CES hasnt event arived yet...w00t!!

What I really want to see is a bluetooth remote control for my home theater, but thats probably too much to ask for a couple of years.

It's late and I'm babbling...

On a 3G / GPS note, I had a chance at the weekend to play with a Motorola A920 which has both of these features on the '3' network in the UK.

3G is barely faster than GPRS - and seemingly a lot more picky about signal strength.

The GPS is neat, you can ask "Where am I?" and it will bring a map up with your location but there's very little in the way of navigation built-in and I assume that's 95% of the use of GPS.

Also, the Symbian OS is just as frustrating to use as Pocket PC 2002, we tried about an hour to get the email set up on it with no luck, made me hanker back to my 'Connections' settings frustrations!

It's a long way until all this stuff works properly, feels like the 1st generation PPC's compared to WM 2003. Everything was there, it just didn't quite work as you expected / wanted.

Bluetooth keyboard would be cool though, as long as they include some 'Bluejacking' hotkeys! [/i]

Configuration is always a concern. AT&T Wireless and Microsoft teamed up to offer a great solution to set up your smartphone: https://www.startwindowsmobile.com/ Now if the Bluetooth smartphones would start to ship we would be set. I hope they offer that service for the XDA when they start to carry it.

Medion are currently selling a PocketPC with GPS integrated in the UK.

A slightly larger device is a gotive at http://www.gotive.com/ which has GPS, GPRS, GSM can have wi-fi, BT, Barcode scanners, etc.

Cheers

I'm afraid not - what Medion are actually selling is a Pocket PC bundled with an external GPS.

Mitac has PPC with GPS. it is Mio 263. It looks very like h1910 with a QUE-like GPS.
