Default PocketMusic Player Bundle Reviewed by Static

http://www.staticfuzz.com/content/2...0_31/index.html

"Over the past few weeks I've been searching for a music playback solution as a possible alternative to using Microsoft's Windows Media Player. After searching through software libraries and discussion forum threads I found a few excellent solutions. PocketMusic, developed by PocketMind, stood out as one of the elite.

Overall PocketMusic stood up well to everyday use. It loads a little slower than some other media players I have tried, but once launched it runs smoothly. Like WMP, it can sometime pause music playback when you are doing work in another app with it running in the background, but playback always resumed seconds later."

One thing it doesn't do is play secure .WMA files. I am trying to live righteously by downloading music legally--using the new Napster. However, the downloaded files are secure and will only play on Windows Media. This is also the case with Pocket Music's chief competitor, Conduits' PocketPlayer.

If I'm not mistaken, in order for either PocketMusic or Pocket Player to play WMA files "natively," they have to install the Microsoft Windows Media Plug-In for Pocket Internet Explorer. If that is the case, wouldn't the burden of playing secured WMAs rest within Microsoft's plug-in and not the 3rd party players? I never secured any of my WMA files, so I can't tell.

That sounds logical but the end result is that the third party players skip over the secure .wma files while the WM player plays them.
