Default LG Readies Pocket PC Phone Edition

http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=505

"LG recently revealed their new state of the art PocketPC Phone Edition device at ITU Telecom World 2003. The device includes a built-in 1.1 megapixel camera and has been dubbed the LG-SC8000. The phone uses a slider design to accommodate a traditional numeric keypad. There is also some computing power to make everything work, such as the 400Mhz XScale processor and 192MB of storage. The LG phone also has a slot for a memory card, for further memory expansion. It has both IrDA and USB ports so it can communicate with other devices. It uses a relatively small 2.8 inch 262,000 color TFT LCD and is scheduled to be released into the Korean market at the end of this year."

I smell marketing speak. Why don't they just say 128MB RAM + 64MB ROM? Are they trying to get the "dumb" PPC market with that line?

And 18-bit colour? 18 isn't a very round binary-type number.

Looks nice, is that 192 MB = 64 ROM + 128 MB RAM? Also, 262,000 colors?, I thought that all LCD screens in PDA's were 16-bit (about 65,000 colors)

Surprisingly enough, it looks really small, especially when you consider that's a 2.8 inch screen reference.

I wish this had a Wifi and BT plus QWERTY and 65K screen. Maybe someone at LG will listen, and come with something of that sort.

Yeah, wierd. But then, Casio's BE-300 has a 12-bit (32k colors) screen. So I guess that the display doesn't have to support a power-of-two bitdepth.

It's a shame that this device only has a keypad—it would be more applealing to me if it had a full keyboard.

I KNEW I wasnt imagining things on the last pic we saw of this. Its keypad DOES slide into the device like the Zarus. SWEET! I want one. Heh even if it does come here Verizion probably wouldnt support it. :roll
