Default MSNBC Reviews HP's iPAQ 4150, GPS and Camera

http://www.msnbc.com/news/979664.as...0dm=N12OT&cp1=1

MSNBC just put up a short review of HP's new iPAQ 4150, and the author really likes it.

"In during my few days of testing, the h4150 did everything I asked it to, did it quickly and did it well. I also have to commend the OS engineers for improving Pocket Internet Explorer so pages on MSNBC can be easily read - something Ive been complaining about for a long time."

He also goes on to review the Bluetooth-based GPS system (it looks a lot like Socket's) and finds it to be a flawless experience, and finally comments on the camera (no discussion of image quality, though). Overall, it looks like HP is staying very active in diversifying their PDA line -- let's hope the other OEMs, like Dell, can keep the pace.

Who would have thought that MSNBC would give a positive review of an MSLicensee's device?

It IS a nice device, but this "review" is fluff.

It's odd that nohwere does HP, or the review, mention what the software package is. I wonder if they are using a re-branded package with the HP name.

That GPS device looks great! I would assume it will work with any bluetooth-enabled iPAQ?

Anyone seen any 'official' information on the GPS? I browsed HP's site but couldn't find anything.

Well the Bluetooth GPS is the Globalsat BT-GPS that you can get from Semsons from $189, so unless they're using TomTom (which they're not  ), $369 isn't going to be a very good deal if I got the price right. Actually the price is $329, so it should be a decent deal.

We've got a little news blurb and links here: http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/comments.asp?id=217

True

For Gary Krakow, it was positively gushy.

That's like saying NBC will only report positive stories about parent company GE. For the most part, that just doesn't happen. I've found MSNBC to be pretty fair. Heck, I've even seen ads for Sony Clie's on the site.

However, I do agree the review is fluff, but the GPS looks cool.
