Default Dell Axim X3 Specs, Pictures and User Guide from FCC Document

http://www.bargainpda.com/default.asp?newsID=1639

BargainPDA has discovered the Axim X3 documents on the FCC site, so if you'd like to tear into the gory details of the Axim X3, go take a peek. It looks like those two depressions near the bottom are in fact buttons, not slots for a screen cover as I had guessed.

"The Dell Axim X3 specs were a mystery yesterday. Today we have the user guide and pictures of the Axim X3 inside, outside, upside, rightside...well you get the idea. The FCC requires electronics companies to submit all new products for testing and approval. The pictures and documentation from these tests for the Dell Axim X3 have been published to the FCC website, simply click this link to download the manual. This is the guide that will be included with the Axim X3. Below are pictures and specs of the upcoming Axim."

I think that its trying to like a Toshiba, its too squared off at the edges, I like the Axim X5.

And is this model only different to the X5 because it has WiFi integrated?

I like the hardware button for turning the WiFil on and off, but having a button on the edge like that isn't so great. My old 5450 had a hardware button for record and I was always inadvertantly recording when the iPAQ was in my holster, even when the iPAQ was turned off

I thought the X3 was going to have a CF slot? I don't see this listed on the diagram.

Nope, the X3 is SD-only.

Here are the important parts from the manual (at least for me).

-Rear speaker
-Buttons on sides are Voice Recorder Button and wi-fi radio switch
-BLUETOOTH
-ROM looks very similar to WM2003 X5
-Still poor software package
-Status light for spare battery on cradle

Processor-- Intel XScale processor at 400 or 300 MHz
Memory--RAM 64- or 32-MB SDRAM
--ROM 48- or 32-MB Intel StrataFlash ROM

Operating System-- Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 Premium

-IR is Standard v1.2(115 kbps)

Dimensions:
Length 117.0 mm (3.0 inches)
Width 76.0 mm (3.21 inches)
Height 14.8 mm (0.58 inches)
Weight 138 g (0.30 lb) (with standard battery)

-950 or 1800 mAh removable batteries

Nice wrap-up! Glad they went Intel Strata instead of NAND. I bet we see price poitn of 399 with a rebate for 50 when released, also for a dual wireless device it's competition is the HP 5550 and at 399 would be a great deal for a similar device!

The dimensions are way off -- take a look at that section. The 'mm' readings are correct, but the 'in' converts are completely wrong. It is more like 2.99 in x 4.61 in.

But then again, who reads the manual? ;-)

Yeah, I was looking at that and wondering why 76.0mm was bigger than 117.0mm once you convert to inches.
