Upcoming Pretec CF News
Some interesting tidbits coming out of Pretec this week: they estimate their 6GB card to be shipping in volume by the end of the year, and are expecting to demo 12GB cards in the first half of next year! 8O
Also, the performance metrics of the 6GB Pretec card appear pretty solid: 8MB/s read and 7MB/s write. As some of you might know, good write performance is usually difficult with flash memory. It remains to seen how this card will actually perform, but I won't complain if someone were to give me one as a gift. 8)

Considering that 4 GB cards are selling for around $1000 after being recently introduced, can we safely assume that the new 12 GB card will sell for about the same price when it comes out?
12 GB is six hours of 24-bit/96 KS/s audio recording -- just what we need!
Now we just have to hope that it's fast enough.

Wow, 4GB is just amazing. Really, only professional photographers will use these cards... Otherwise, what kind of person will spend $1000 on a 4GB card? Bring the price down to about $300, and I'll do it. Better yet, come out with a 4GB SD card and you surely got a sale!

Uh, a 6GB card would be something like every PPCT "Big Thinker" contest combined and doubled. 8O

Whatever the price, these higher capacity cards should further push down prices of lower capacities.
Did anyone notice whether these are Type I or Type II cards?
