SoundExplorer 3.1 Released
http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=51054
A few weeks ago, Jason posted on the SoundExplorer 3.0 beta. It has been released and has been improved a bit. SoundExplorer 3.1 was released just a few days ago. What is SoundExplorer? "SoundExplorer is a full-featured mp3/wav recorder and player that offers the most comprehensive and up-to-date set of tools suitable for professional and amateur use. It turns your PocketPC into full-scale digital dictaphone and mp3 player providing comfortable use and powerful tools for interviewing, lecture recording and music listening."

Fixes and enhancements include:
hardware button operating bug renaming bug (bookmark file) mp3 rec. idle timer mp3 rec. idle volume meter mp3 rec. idle VAS active task bug stop button bug (in "All Files" mode) registration system bug
It supports MIPS, ARM or XScale based Pocket PC, OS version 2000, 2002 or 2003. It is $19.95. They have a bundle for $29.95 that includes both the VITO SoundExplorer and VITO SoundEditor, a savings of $5 over purchasing them separately. See the Handango pages for the appropriate discount codes.

INTEVIEW TRANSCRIBER SOFTWARE
I orginally glossed over this post, but as I looked further the recording software could be very handy if it can be transcribed. Does anyone know of transcription software, i.e. software that translates voice such as an interview into written word. :?:
I am a graduate student working on a thesis which will involve a great number of interviews. Boy, would this help out if I could have digital audio files and transcripts to send between my team and advisors.
Please let me know if anything is available out there for pocket pc and/or pc use. Thanks!

Try searching in Google with "speech to text" keyword.
Hope this helps.
P.S. By the way, version 3.2 of SoundExplorer has been just released.
