New HP iPAQ 1.3 MP SD Camera Announced Today
HP unveiled a whack of new products today - 158 new devices in total, which is pretty impressive. One of the items them mentioned in passing will get some people in this community very excited: a 1.3 megapixel SDIO camera. Nice! It's supposed to retail for $150 USD or less, and should hit the shelves sometime in October. I imagine it will only work with iPAQ Pocket PCs, but that shouldn't surprise anyone.
"This is a Secure Digital (SD) camera designed by HP specifically for its iPaq Pocket PCs. The 1.3-megapixel-resolution camera is better than most VGA cameras built into some models or offered as accessories."

Nice, but I'd rather see HP release a 19xx model with built-in camera.

8O I want one!!! Umm, that is, if it is any good at taking pics. :Fade-color
But will probably find that out quite fast around here, won't we?
Hey, maybe the HP logo even doubles as a flash!? Naah, :idontthinkso:

I dont see any flash! And I wonder if it comes with built-in extra memory. With 1.3 MP for sure you will need more memory.

Ooh, something expensive that can break easily. I have a problem with thin expansion card formats(ie: smartmedia, sony stik), they tend to get bent or cracked in backpack. Whatever is not 'spose to happen, happens. Tis why I generally stick to CF. I, also, rather would have it built-in.

no flash=bad, no camera w/o flash will ever match one with flash. i rather leave my sd for memory and cf for stuff though

What would be better
It would be nicer if they had a small bluetooth camera with enough memory to hold maybe 4 high res shots (maybe 8MB built in or so). Transfer images via bluetooth. Also, remote control maybe 15 feet using bluetooth.
That would be my dream purchase at this point.
Actually, another idea of mine is the 802.11 bluetooth "puck"
It would be a iMac-mouse-looking device that:
1. Takes a couple of AAA batteries
2. Bridges 802.11b with bluetooth
Now THAT would be cool.
If they could create that, and put a little camera on top, I'd pay $300 for it.
