iPAQ.net Launches
There's a new site on the virtual block, and it's called iPAQ.net (sweet domain!). They're just getting started, and to help spur community participation, they have a contest on where you can win prizes just by posting! Pretty interesting approach. Up for grabs are a folding keyboard, a 128 MB SD card, and free software.
"At iPAQ.NET, we like to reward our members for their contribution. Understanding that people will contribute to give back to the community regardless, I find that people should get a little something back for their efforts. You will find a chart below that outlines how we reward members for their contributions. Please realize that this point system is not perfect, it may even be unfair at times. The point of ipaq.net is to help educate iPAQ owners about their products and ofcourse have fun along the way!"
They have a very fast server (love it!), and a cool way of highlighting the most active members on the front page.

Wow. Slick start. I wonder how much they paid for the domain name... not sure I like the points system, however. Interesting idea nevertheless.

Appears to be based on the IBuySpy or something similar, a .NET open-source initiative for websites. The site is interesting, but I don't approve of the spelling errors.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
The site is not using the ibuyspy system at all. The site is built off of the asp.net forums, I am a .NET developer actually so I extended the existing code base to handle the content management system using custom controls & skinning similar to how asp.net forums was built.
as for the spelling mystakes (joke), please post them here: http://www.ipaq.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=279
Thanks for the support, special thanks goes out to Jason D. for his community spirit!

Not too sure about that site. It says I'm an MCSE, MSCD, A+, CCNA, CCIE, PHD. But then I haven't created a profile yet.

The other really neat thing is the My Forums link which lists the last 25 threads to posted in. Really nice for keping track of your recent posts (hint hint)

iPAQ.net
This is also iPAQ.org (which is how I saw it announceed, and how it's listed on my site). I do find the "Number 1 iPAQ Community" slogan a bit exaggerated, though. Dave's iPAQ might take issue with it, too. :-)

This is easy to do here. Just do a search with only your user name in the search fields. That will show you all of the threads you've posted to in reverse chronological order.
