Default AMD, Fujitsu Team on Flash Memory

http://www.pcworld.com/news/article...n071503X,00.asp

"Advanced Micro Devices and Fujitsu have taken the wraps off their flash memory joint venture, which will sell flash memory chips under the Spansion brand. FASL LLC is the name of the new joint venture, which builds upon a previous joint venture between the two companies known as Fujitsu AMD Semiconductor. The companies announced the new joint venture in March, hoping that by combining their assets and sales forces, they could capture more market share together than either company could individually."

Spansion? That sounds like someone from the southern US saying the word "Expansion".

OT, but Dvorak's latest Inside Track talked about how the Elpida joint venture is now the super-behemoth sole Japanese DRAM maker and how the industry landscape is changed...

P.S. The column also expressed awe at Coding Technologies' worldwide-leading sound codecs portfolio (including aacPlus that I'd wanted to discuss some time back), but this is topic for another thread...

The more players in the flash memory market, the better.
