Default Wondering about the Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003?

In case you're a Phone Edition owner, and are wondering about the update, here's the answer: the Phone Edition of the OS is finished and released to the OEMs, just like the normal Windows Mobile 2003 was. Now it's up to T-Mobile and the other carrier/OEMs to decide how they want to release it (if at all). The best thing you can do is contact your OEM or carrier and tell them you want Windows Mobile 2003 on your Pocket PC!

I talked to T-MObile tech support yesterday and was advised that they would have a statement in about a week stating that the upgrade was available, or at least have a date for it's release. 8)

Meanwhile Microsoft has a quick tour posted here:

I think the upgrade will be worth it just to have the 2 separate volume controls!

When browsing Microsoft's Pocket PC 2003 features & as well thier Pocket PC Phone 2003 features (link above that Paragon Again provided), just wondering if the "Pictures" image viewer is omitted in the Phone Edition?

The "Pictures" image viewer isn't highlighted in the features for the Phone Edition so I was just wondering if that means it isn't included.

I don't think they omitted it Brian. I can't say for sure since I don't have a device running it. What they are showing in that preview are features that are part of the Phone Edition. Since the image viewer is part of the regular OS they just never bothered to show it. PPC PE at least for 2002 was the complete PPC 2002 plus the extra bits for the Phone Edition.

BTW, who's Paragon Again

That's kinda what I was hoping, that it was a feature that is going to be included but not just highlighted as it isn't Phone Edition specific.

Didn't you have the "Again" as part of your username? Or am I thinking of another board that you go by that? Sorry

Once T-Mo (or AT&T) comes out with this, my next thought is how easy will it be for those of us to get the upgrade that have T-Mobile or AT&T Phone Editions in Canada that don't have T-Mo or AT&T contracts? Hopefully T-Mobile will allow us to buy the upgrade without proving we have a contract with them.

I think you have brought upa very important point. I'm willing to bet that you are going to have to have an account to get the upgrade. It's been my experience that T-Mobile have very big blinders, and ear plugs if you don't have an account, but very helpful if you do. I guess we will have to wait and see. If I here anything either way I'll post it.

....yeah I use Paragon Again at Pocket PC Passion I was just joking.
