Default HP Announces the iPAQ 2210

http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/p...aq/ds_h2200.pdf

HP has officially announced the world's worst kept secret, the iPAQ 2210. Apparently, the unit has already appeared in stores on Friday.

"The small and sleek iPAQ Pocket PC h2200 series has the optimal combination of features, performance, and expandability that allow individuals and mobile professionals use of their pocket pc seven days a week at home, at work, and on the go. A broad range of features, Bluetooth(TM), expansion capabilities and multimedia make the iPAQ Pocket PC h2200 series unit essential for you to communicate, access and manage information when you want."

The iPAQ 2210 has a 400MHz PXA255 XScale, 64MB of RAM, 3.5" transflective display, dual CF/SD (incl. SDIO) slots, integrated Bluetooth, and it's only .61" thick and 5.1 ounces, which makes it amongst the lightest dual-slot units. The linked press release has more technical specs and pictures. Moreover, various threads have indicated that this may be the fastest iPAQ yet -- Jason's upcoming review has lots of performance numbers, so stay tuned!

Default blech

Blech... Although it looks nice, I will wait a bit longer. The 2215 is missing both an audio record button and a scroll wheel/jogger switch.

And the 128 Mb RAM (apparently slated for later this year... )

I heard it was slightly faster too

Default what is SDIO WLAN?

SDIO WLAN? I use the Linksys WCF12 WLAN on my 3950. Does this mean that I have to get a new WLAN card for the 2210?? TIA.

The 2210 has a CF slot also. But whether Linksys will release drivers for this card under PPC2003 is as yet unknown (at least to me).

The record button, I can agree with the comment. The jog wheel......Compaq did pretty well selling the 3xxx series without any kind of jog wheel/dial.

As far as the record button, there is/are app(s) out there that give you the ability to press and hold a hardware button for a second, third, or even fourth option. I'd use that for the record button. Then again, I rarely use the record button as it is. As a matter of fact, it annoys me sometimes because it gets pressed when I don't mean to.
