Default Free ViewSonic V37s Shipping As Part Of Visual Studio .NET 2003 Package

http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10404

Just a heads up that Jimmy Dodd received his ViewSonic V37 yesterday. He signed up for it after purchasing Visual Studio. The offer is still valid here until June 30, 2003 or while supplies last, so if you qualify and haven't yet registered for the V37, you only have 11 days to do so.

It is a PPC 2002 device - it just has the .NET Compact Framework built into the ROM.

Bummer - I got the VS 2003 upgrade from 2002 and it is specifically not elegable for the V37.

Of course, I did get the upgrade for only $29, so it's hard to expect to also get a free PPC.

I also got the $29 upgrade. We're still way ahead, even if we buy a new PPC. (At least for Enterprise Architect that I got.)

I downloaded the free upgrade via my MSDN Universal subscription, so I really didn't pay anything extra for it. Though the $2k+ cost of the Universal subscription more than compensates for the PPC.

I used my subscriber ID that I got from work... Jimmy how long ago did you fill out the offer? I just mailed mine off the first week in June. Wonder if supplies will last that long?!

draklava:

I did mine the first day it was announced. That would be around April 25th, if memory serves me correctly. After I mailed everything off it took a few days for the web site to show the submission as completed. I got an email response back as well with an estimated ship date (which was about two weeks off) that stated the device was backordered.

Check the web site regularly - it should tell you whether they are still available. Once they complete your submission they should send you an email letting you know when it will be coming. I actually received my V37 the day before I received the email saying it had shipped so it was a nice surprise first thing in the morning.

Good luck!

Hi,
I have MSDN Universal subscription from work (all developers got one), but all I have is the subscription member ID. Does anyone know what is an Authorization or License Number? Will I be able to get a free PPC without this number? I don't feel like asking my boss for it since he doesn't want us to move on to the Studio.Net yet. I really hate to pass up this great opportunity.

If you have an MSDN Universal Subscription you can download the upgrade. You have to install it in order to get the license number. If you are using VS 6 I know that you can install VS.NET 2003 to run along side it with no problems (I am doing just that). In fact, for a short time I was running 6.0, VS.NET, and VS.NET 2003 on the same machine without a problem.

You'll also need a receipt for your original MSDN purchase (I used a company invoice) in order to qualify.
