m-Vision Video Content
There's a new system for downloading video content onto your Pocket PC from Australia's m-Vision. It looks a lot like the more familiar Mazingo, but with a few twists.
"m-Vision is a subscription based service similar to Pay TV. You can download and install m-Vision from this web site via an "Active Sync" to your desktop PC. You can choose from a variety of different content channels including:
� Music including new releases, top ten charts and dance.
� 12 Video Horoscopes, updated weekly
� Movie Releases including cinema and home releases
� TheBestMix featuring videos from TheBestMix Music Competition
� Home Shopping (Australia Only)
� International Business featuring market commentary
� Australian Sports Scoreboard
� International Sports including scoreboards and match highlights
� Weather Reports both for Australia, Asia Regional and Worldwide
� m-Vision tips of the week featuring tips on using your Pocket PC
� Australian Business and Finance including Stock Picks and a Daily Market Outlook
Personally, I LOVE the idea of watching video content on my Pocket PC. I mean, I'll watch my own movie selections on long airline flights rather than the in-flight stuff. But, the only way a service like this or Mazingo will keep me interested is if the variety and number of content choices is large enough. There are a lot of other variables that influence this kind of service's success (file size, quality of viewer, etc.), but it's the variety of the content that makes it or breaks it.
What do you think? Do any of these services have the types of videos that keep you interested (and paying)?

mazingo doesn't nearly have the content, application quality or support level to earn my money. The only good way to view movies on your pocket pc is the combination of my DVD Collection + Smartripper + VirtualDub + PocketMVP

I have to say I am agree with you in terms of Mazingo
The bad thing is I have subscribed to that...
Why not they could come up with a better interface, better content compression, and better content (which is seems finally getting a bit closer... but still have quite a bit to go)

What I also find odd is that there Day pass is 7 USD. For that amount I can rent two dvd's for a whole week. Compare this to the content provided on a small PocketPC screen and I can't really understand it. A five day free trial would be the sensible thing to do, but I guess that would scare more customers away than it would bring in

Monthly pay video services is a wasted of money. Just get MS DME and you can have new video content every day for a one time charge of $20.

MS DME
Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition. I have it...and it sucks. Sure, you can download news clips....from NBC/MSNBC. Sure, you can get some other video. But the online selection is TERRIBLE. The only GOOD thing about it is you can also use it to play regular Windows Media files and you can have it copy stuff to the card for you (syncing kind of like ipod, but usually less storage! ). DME is a decent buy with the other features (WMP Party Mode is nice even when you don't have a party.). I would like to be able to carry TV shows and stuff with out all of the work involved with recording and recoding for PPC.

I found this DaViDeo a complete package to compress a DVD for playback on mediaplayer in Pocket PC.

German page but I think the software is bilingual German/English. If I understand correctly you just specify the finnished size of the movie and off it goes.

All the comments re the m-Vision service are much appreciated. m-Vision has a wide selection of content delivered to your PPC via ActiveSync or wireless over WLAN or Wifi for that matter, without subscribers needing to pull down each clip. It is truly developed as a mobile media entertainment service you can enjoy anytime anywhere. Local content has been secured for certain regions but we agree wholeheartedly, variety of compelling content is the key and you will continue to see the improvement. I trust the A$10 a month has been set at an attractive enough price for PPC users to enjoy videos and useful info delivered to the PPC while at the same time, subscribers can also customise their content mix by going to the Option menu. Quality of m-Vision is good but must be subject to the limitation in memory size of your device. However, as storage card becomes cheaper and cheaper and RAM memory grows over time, memory will not be an issue. m-Vision is powered by GoConnect's own patented GoTrek technology.
