Default Samsung Low Cost Concept Pocket PC A Reality?

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2002/Nov02/11-11SamsungDesignPR.asp

Is this the new low cost Samsung Pocket PC Jason posted about late last year? Foo Fighter ran across this Samsung chip ad in "Electronics Design Mag" and scanned it in for us.

It is a bit grainy. Sorry about that. If I had access to the magical photo enhancing technology they have on TV, I'd have rotated it, colorized it and have been able to tell you exactly what was written on the screen.

I haven't seen any additional information beyond the initial Microsoft press release linked to above. There were rumors this was to be a sub-$200 device. Given the 32MB 300MHz Dell Axim does that with a color screen to boot, this will need to come in below $150 or even $125. Then again, this could just be a Samsung ad where someone grabbed the concept device for a quick photo shoot.

I forgot to mention the screen was color, not grayscale.

In some Japanese tech conference it was rumored that the 'catfish' is rumored to be int he range of $180 dolar or so. For some reason I thought that isn't a particularly impressive number.

Also note h1930 is the first known model using that Samsung SOC. and it is rumored to be priced at $250 or so.

I think h1930 IS the catfish!

Okay, so I'm no super-spy. Just Pocket Artist and 3 minutes of wasted time. Still, at least I don't have to tilt my head any more.

Not much improvement but at least there's lovely colours.

It looks as though the housing has been built to accept a somewhat WIDER DISPLAY SCREEN.
