Default Pocket PC 2003 Software Development Kit Released

http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/partners/

Microsoft has released the Pocket PC 2003 SDK and it is available as a free download to registered developers at the Mobile Solutions Partner Program (MSPP) site. I have also heard that TechEd participants get CDs containing the SDK. Since the Pocket PC 2003 SDK contains an emulator we should expect to see more screen shots emerging from here and there. Exciting times ahead!

Since Microsoft announced it (and the announcement popped up first on the UK MSDN site of all places) then you can consider it official. Also this is a release SDK whereas the version distributed at the MDC conferences was a Beta, so software-wise its complete.

The PPC 2003 SDK also came along in the Programming Windows CE .Net 3rd edition by Douglas Boling.

Odd, when was the OFFICIAL announcement that said PPC2K3 was real? I don't recall seeing it.

Hmm... I wonder if this SDK includes some sort of list of what's new which somebody NOT under NDA could post...

Everyone at MDC got a copy. At Tech Ed, we had several boxes of these in the mobility "ask the experts" area and handed them out to people who showed an interest in developing for the devices (or wanted to play with a Smartphone emulator before deciding on whether to purchase the dev kit).

A clear difference here is that the omission of the words "Beta" from the description of the SDK as opposed to the version distributed at MDC (not sure which version you had for Tech-Ed)...

Well the SDK was announced at MSDN UK I would class that as Official (http://www.microsoft.com/uk/msdn/). I'm not sure why it has not yet appeared on the US site. There are no other details available publicly, as a member of the partner program you have access to more detailed information.
