Default Samsung SCH-i700 Pocket PC Phone Reviewed on Brighthand

http://www.brighthand.com/article/S..._i700_PPC_Phone

"The i700 truly hits the mark when it comes to balancing PDA functionality with cell phone usability. On the PDA side, it does everything as well as you'd expect from a Pocket PC. And on the phone side, the integrated CDMA 1xRTT phone works well, with outstanding call quality, decent reception (though not as good as my trusty old Motorola v60 cell phone running on the Verizon network), and no lag between dialing a number and when it is displayed on the screen. (And there is a mini-jack located on the back of the device for connecting an external antenna, if you think that'll help with the reception issue.)"

*Wets himself*

Jeez, finally an update to the XDA/T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition. Have there been any other Pocket PC phones besides those ones and the Thera/2032?

Nope, not really. There was the Jornada 928, but it was basically killed quickly after launch. This is the first truly new design to come out in quite some time, which is what makes it so cool.

Man, I've been trying to hard to find a reason not to get one of these. It's looking more and more like an outstanding device.

So, the real question: Anybody heard if/when it will be available in Canada? I'm hoping Rogers will carry the GSM model.

That device looks real good... I'm up to renew with Verizon pretty soon and you get a nice discount on a new phone

This is looking real tempting. Too bad it's not available in my area yet.

Default Truely a nice device

This is a great device. I'm planning to do an extensive compare with the XDA in few days when I receive the i700. I'll be publishing it at pdaPhoneHome when its ready.

It Telus decides to carry this, I just might go back to them - but the odds of them becoming technologically savvy are pretty slim.

Don't you people ever sleep? ;-)

Very true. That's one nice thing with GSM I guess. I have a T68 with Rogers right now so if I can find the i700 unlocked, I can just move my SIM card over (right?).

Sleep? What's sleep? (Actually, I'm driving to BC in the morning so I'm shutting down right after I hit Submit.)

Default Impressive device

Impressive device indeed. But WHY no Bluetooth? So i can

- ActiveSync the device to my desktop computer without wires
- Connect the device to a Bluetooth Access Point to provide internet access
- Use it with a (Stereo) Headset
- Use the device handsfree threw voice dailing in my Car
- .......and other interesting (BT) applications

When to add BT seems selective....
