Default More News On Dell and Good Technology Alliance

http://news.com.com/2100-1041-998838.html?tag=fd_top

Over the weekend, I posted about a new alliance between Dell and Good Technology. Today, more details were released.

"Next year, the partners will begin selling a jointly developed Dell-branded handheld computer designed to take advantages of next-generation 2.5G cellular networks, he added. The device will likely run Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system and will include GoodLink handheld software. No other details of the device were available."

2.5G? Aren't we ever going to get 3G? Oh well, this is still very good news, even if it is a year or so away.

Any bets on who gets this to market first? Palm or Dell. Palm entered into an agreement with Good last September to develop such a beast.

Palm, without a doubt.

I was thinking the same thing myself. The only thing that made me think that maybe Palm wouldn't get there first was the history they have with wireless products at Palm. Surely this time will be the charm for them, but I wonder if they are at all gun shy due to their previous bungles.

I can't help but think that this is simply Dell seeing what the reaction is from potential users. Is this kind of announcement anything like concept cars in the auto industry? Maybe they will come out with a product, maybe not.

The time frame is what makes me wonder. Any ideas?
