Interactive Art Exhibit In Boston Using The iPAQ 5450
This sounds really cool -- has anyone in Boston checked this out?
"SmartWorlds collaborates with HP, Bill Perry of pocketpcflash.net and Prosum Inc., and Boston's Nature and Inquiry artists group, to create the first integration of Flash, GPS and PocketPC in a location-aware art exhibit. Visitors borrow an HP iPAQ 5450 from the Copley Society of Art on Newbury Street and walk through the Boston Public Garden and Common. As they walk content is triggered based on their longitude and latitude and they see and hear ideas on the PDA. Once they return to the gallery the tracings of their walks are uploaded and displayed on a map of the area. Invisible Ideas was awarded First Jurors Prize by the Copley Society of Art!"
There a semi-interactive demo on the site, and the exhibit apparently runs through May 10th.

Sounds pretty cool.
Sounds just like a much more modern version of previous methods of non-human led tours. I've seen museums before lend out tape players with headphones and it would just say "now go to your left and look at this painting.."
With this you can go wherever you want

Sounds like Bill Gates' home.. I heard he's got flat-screen TVs on the walls, you program your art/music/etc preferences into the computer when you visit, and you wear a badge so that when you enter a room the art on the walls and the music change to match what you like...
Cool stuff!

I'll probably go check it out this weekend but the webpage is taking forever to load and I'm on a T-1 line right now. I guess I'll have to check www.boston.com for more info.
Don't Panic!

All The Details...
Over at BostonPocketPC.com, our won Steven "fyiguy" Hughes did a detailed writeup about this. He was in the area and took the full tour (and a lot of pictures).
You can check it all out at the BostonPocketPC.com web site.
