Default Pendulum Enters Mobile Application Development Market

http://www.mdtplc.com/pendulum/

Looking for mobile application development tools options to the discussed .NET Compact Framework? The company MDT plc has launched Pendulum, an application generator for Pocket PC/Win CE hand held terminals and PDAs designed to turn them into serious business tools. Free evaluation download is available!

"Pendulum comes in two versions. Pendulum Data Collector enables PDAs to become flexible data capture devices, including the capability to support bar code data input via plug-in Compact Flash (CF) card bar code readers, where collected data can be transferred back to your host system via local links. For those with more sophisticated mobile data needs, Pendulum Application Builder employs IBM's DB2 Everyplace system on the hand-held device to extend its capability to support databases."

Default Pendulum software

I used Pendulum for a market research project where I wanted to enter people's responses into my Fujitsu Loox. Once I found out which version I needed (not easy but the maker answered my questions OK) which was the basic data collector, it was really easy to set up the questionnaire pages. I don't know anyhting about programming but for the price of this software I reckon it's a bit of a bargain as it's now paid for itself about ten times over! The Loox is a good product too, apart form the screen flickering like it's got the DTs...

Default Developing in Penudulum

The application builder will be of interest to serious programmers, it is a more user friendly than Visual Studio. It is possible, using the ODBC database links, to put together some useful application. I used it to develop a price lookup and stocktake system and it only took two hours.
