Default River Raider 2003

http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...productId=55495

"The legend is back in action. This is a freshly enhanced version of the old arcade classic, River Raid. You probably remember the old version which was a worldwide sensation! Created by Carol Shaw, the primary female home game designer, improved by Activision, it was the first ever vertically scrolling game. The idea is to fly a plane up through different selected courses, eliminating all the enemies you encounter along the way. Try and avoid hitting the canyon walls otherwise you will blow up! You try to wipe out bridges which are significant to the enemy. The river is heavily guarded, as they struggle to stop you. It does get challenging as you progress, which adds up to the excitement. With lively graphics and groovy game-play, HandyMasters has produced a Champ!" [Affiliate]

this could be trouble ...

played the original until i got to above a certain score, then my parents took a picture (non digital) of the tv screen, sent it off to get an official river raid patch, and then sewed it on one of my favorite jackets.

Awesome! I couldn't tell you how many hours I spent playing river raid.. The sad part was that you couldn't save your games back in those days.. which meant continual play..hehe..

This was one of the first games I got on my PPC Atari (and Pocket C64) emulators..!

No Music to fly by, No Button configuration, That was disappointing, and the convoluted registration system, Sheesh. Maybe they'll release a 2.0 to registered users.

Default Ain't nothin' like the real thing...

I bought a CD containing 30 Activision games (including River Raid). This CD contains the actual .bin files ripped from the game cartridges.

I then downloaded and installed PocketVCS.

Runs a little slow on XScale, but it's quite acceptable. Plus I get to play Chopper Command on my PPC.
