PhatSpell 1.0 for Pocket PC
http://www.phatware.com/phatspell.html
Phatware has released PhatSpell 1.0 for Pocket PC 2002 devices. Pocket PC 2002 devices already come with a spell checker for Pocket Word and Inbox, but other apps are left out in the cold. Furthermore, owners of upgraded iPAQ 3600 devices or brand new iPAQ 1910s don't have the spell checker included.
Features and specs:
Multiple languages supported - English (US & UK), Dutch, German, French, Italian, Portuguese (BR & EU), Swedish and Spanish. Use from within virtually any Pocket PC application. Assign PhatSpell to a hardware button. 200KB-3.5MB, depending on the configuration and dictionaries installed.
For users of Pocket PC 2000 and HPC devices, you can still get HPCSpell from PhatWare. You can buy it from this Handango affiliate link or from the Pocket PC Thoughts store for $19.95.

This is so cool to me, since it includes the Dutch language. We don't have a localized version of the OS, so we rely on third party applications to give support to text entry and spell check and stuff. Add the Dutch version of the WordLogic keyboard and this, and you bypass the limitations of a non-localized device pretty nicely.

What I really like is the multiple language dictionaries. It's been a long time since I studied German.

What puzzles me is how there's so many fewer words in the English dictionaries than there are in the others. Here's the rundown:
Dutch 173,000
English (US) 97,000
English (UK) 98,000
French 202,000
German 256,000
Italian 192,000
Portuguese (EU) 135,000
Portuguese (BR) 120,000
Spanish 430,000
Swedish 110,000
I hasten to add that 99 and 44/100% of the people will not use more than 90,000 words in their entire lifetime, so this is probably not a practical limitation. Also, factors peculiar to each language (such as the number of compound words in German) will necessarily inflate the number of words necessary for such a dictionary. I'm just thinking, 430,000 words is a lot of words.

Too bad it doesn't show on the tool bar when running Wisbar.
Anyone know how to do this?

One other thing. I can not prove this but it does concern me; After loading this program I left home to go to the gym, when I tried to open Windows Media player it was not there. No .ink would open it nor would the .exe file. Later I also found out that I could not sync with my desktop. I deleted the PPC partnership with ActiveSuck and tried to start over but no luck.
I made a back up image of my unit and hard reset. Everything was fine at that point. It would sync and Win Media worked with no issues. I reloaded the image of my set up but again these programs would not execute. (I was hoping the problem would be corrected by the reset and not be overwritten when I restored the image...wrong again)
After spending some time on a few of the boards looking for answers I see where sometimes a program will "break" another programs files essentially rendering it useless until it is totally restored (hard reset). I see where some poeple say PI did this to them and some say PocketPlus did it. I personally have both and have never seen this happen.
I can not say for sure that PhatSpell casued my probs, but it is the only thing that changed. I am a moderate power user so I install and uninstall programs constantly but this is the first time I have ever had something like this happen to me.
Needless to say I have just spent the last three hours reloading all of my programs and getting everything set back up.
