I haven't tried this yet, but I never made the connection between it and Joust. Ah, Joust. Now THERE was a REAL game!

Oh, I loved Joust. Once I saw the pictures I thought it was too good to be true. I have just downloaded the demo and can not wait to test it out! 8)

I admit, though I rapidly approach the 35 mark, I occasionally duck my head in what passes for arcades these days, sometimes in malls and such, or the local Jillians/Dave & Busters/places of that ilk.
I am continually stunned by the major emphasis on shooting games. The majority of arcade games fall into a few categories these days:
1) First person shooters
2) First person racers
3) Martial arts Kombat-types
Now before I sound like I am pining for "the good ol' days," I want to say that these are just fine. I wasted a good amount of cash on Alpine Skiier. But knowing that it is a nearly dead arena for entertainment, it certainly seems that those who remain in the business have found the cookie cuttrer, and are madly pressing away, churning out the same thing over and over.
Yes, it was the old days when unique games like Qix, Q*Bert, Joust, Gauntlet, and others ruled the roost.
Thank God for MAME....

Well I for one do appreciate the emulators out there, and have several installed on my desktop, don't you think we can do better in 2003 for our handhelds than this?
I agree this game is Joust with slightly better graphics, but it's still pretty lame, at least the demo was. Have you guys played it? I finished the demo levels without dying, and in 5 minutes I had already uninstalled the demo.
Thumbs down.

Joust, Gyruss, Tempest, Galaga. Ahhh, the misspent hours learning to master Asteroids and even Space Invaders. Battle Zone was the ultimate experience, immersive and grand, in all its monochromatic glory.
It is to weep.
