Wistron To Launch Windows Smartphone with Camera
http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article5.asp?datePublish=2003/02/19&pages=PR&seq=210
"Wistron will be the first company in the world to launch a new concept smartphone. Unlike the smartphone made by High Tech Computer (HTC) and the soon to be available model from Mitac International, the device will use the new Intel Windows Powered Smartphone concept design based on the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture (Intel PCA), according to an Intel press release yesterday. The new concept design combines Microsofts Smartphone OS and Intels PXA262 processor to enable a 176220-pixel color screen, an integrated camera and up to five hours of talk time. Smartphones based on the design can be used to easily surf the web, play media files and integrate with Outlook and other PC applications."
It is, of course, too early to know what carriers will be selling it. No mention is even made of the type of phone it will be - CDMA, GSM, etc.

Winstron's use of the XScale processor will hopefully help avoid the intermittent sluggish response times that are an annoying feature of the OMAP-powered SPV. Unless that's a problem inherent to the OS, of course.

The article states that this device is based upon the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture (PCA). The Intel PCA includes an Intel single-chip processor for GSM/GPRS...so no CDMA with these, at least for now.
