Gilbert Goodmate Gets Small(er)
http://www.z-logics.com/
If you've ever played the Gilbert Goodmate game on your PC, you'll be happy to hear that it is soon to be ported to the Pocket PC. Heck, even if you haven't played it, this is good news.
The game is supposed to be released this Summer, but you can go to the site of the developer, Z-Logics, and download a great 12MB, 2-minute MPEG video clip that gives a bit of an overview. The game really has a great sense of humor, and at times seems more like a Monty Python bit than a computer game. If the graphics and sound on the final game are anything like the video, this will be a blast to play. We'll keep you posted about its final release.
UPDATE: Michael at Z-Logics Development has let me know that when this game is released they're looking forward to providing some free licenses to Thoughts readers. How cool is that? Stay tuned...

Good lord! Now that I've seen more screenshots, it is an exact rip-off of Monkey Island!

Even the title screen looks like it.
Hello Mr. Threepwood.
Of course, that doesn't make me not interested. I wish there were more games of this variety.

i am sooooooooooooo getting this. Adventure games (with humor) like Space Quest, Monkey Island, Sam 'n Max, et al. have always been my favorite type of game.
This one looks top notch. Great graphics/animcation, nice voice acting....now all i need to see is if they manage to fill all this up with a story/game that will last more than 15 minutes (ideally, I'd expect maybe 10-15 hours of gameplay out of a game like this on a PC if i wanted to explore every little tidbit).
I wonder how much space this is intended to take up.....
[edit] I just read through the site....apparently, over 40 hours of gameplay expected, only about 16 megs for the game (more if you want the voices -- and who wouldn't?) and all for only about $20...man...can't wait....

I agree, it looks like a kick arse game, but come on...could this be anymore obvious? You can almost see Le Chuck in the background, flaming beard and all.
Even the main characters name "Gilbert Goodmate" seems like a rough play on "Guybrush Threepwood". 8O

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
I agree that it's obvious who 'inspired' them but did you know that this games actually started out as a fangame which was later commercialized? (a fangame is a game made by fans)
Here's a review
Anyway I appreciate anyone who takes the effort to port games to the PPC!
