Default IPAQ 5455 Bluetooth Headset Profile

http://www.bostonpocketpc.com/modul...order=0&thold=0

The folks at BostonPocketPC.com have been experimenting with their 5455's...

"If you own a iPAQ 5455, it came with a notification that the Bluetooth Headset Profile was not available. Guess again....

Now, through a change in your registry settings on your iPAQ 5455, you should be able to hear the sounds from your iPAQ on the headset. The only comment is that the quality is not that good yet and all headsets are only one earphone (mono).

Below is the registry change you need to make. "

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\0005\Enabled Change the value from 0 to 1.

Just remember to back up your registry prior to making any changes!

I have used the mic on the Bluetooth headset with the voice recorder on the h5450. Works very well. Obviously, the sound quality of the headset is not up to par for MP3's, but it's fine for Audible books.

I'm hoping this will work with, say, an H3955 with a Socket Bluetooth CF card, right?

I'm afraid not  - at least not at this time. The headset profile uses a different method than any of the non-audio Bluetooth profiles.
The 5450 uses a newer version of Widomm's firmware than previous iPAQs, and I don't know if it would be supported by the hardware in the other models.

Well I've got one of those bluetooth "headsets" that goes through the car stereo so I can talk on my cellphone through the car's speakers and I've been asking around on about every forum I could find if this could be done. Now I see it can and its for the H5400. ... can I trade my H3955 in for credit on the H5400? ;-)
