Default What those MVPs are doing...

Curious as to what the rest of the news team is doing while Steve and I are holding down the fort? Well, in practice, they're stuck in a lot of meetings.

To get a better feel for what the MVP program is, check out this short article, which features a quote by none other than our very own Ed Hansberry. One of the more notable meetings was one with Bill Gates.

By the looks of things they're all skipping the meeting and going straight to the company store, place seems to be packed with people with armfulls of software.

The meetings last between 3 and 5 days depending on the group.

You're such a snob. You didn't even help when all that software dropped down when I went by you.

The meetings go on between 09.00 hours and 17.00 hours on regular days, with a lot of social events planned for the nights. Today there was a scheduled stop for the MVPs at the MS Company Store, so indeed we flooded the MS campus with Company Store paper bags. For the rest of the time we got educated in and near the MS Conference Centre. Getting face to face information on the latest and greatest at MS, and time for Q&A is great.

""I've been an MVP for three years and I've definitely seen our feedback put into products," said Ed Hansberry, a certified public accountant by trade from Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of the Pocket PC group.

When the first Pocket PC devices came out, a common complaint among users was not being able to figure out how to close applications, he said. It was partly feedback from MVPs that persuaded Microsoft to include the familiar 'x' at the top right of the screen for closing programs, he said."

Ed said that the X on PPC closes programs?

REPORTERS, sheesh!

Send a message via MSN to PlayAgain?

The word 'educated' sounds sinister. Do you get educated in a dark room with lots of flashing colours and spinning colour-wheels?

Default CPA?

Hey, if Ed is a CPA - how in the hell does he have the time to go to the MVP conference this time of the year??? 8O

Overheard conversation with Ed and client: "I guess I should have been working on that long form for you, but I was out playing with my Ipaq in Seattle last week. Looks like your gonna have to that big fine..."

Ok - I am just kidding you Ed. (And yes, I know that not all CPA's prepare tax returns). BTW - can you help me with mine?? I need to write off my pocketPC and all my accessories!!!

I was wondering about this. My only guess is that he's using up vacation time. Talk about committment.

Feb is really too early for serious tax work, but it wouldn't matter. I got out of public tax looooooong ago.
