Default CD Zapping

http://www.electricstuff.co.uk/cdzap.html

What happens when you take a CD, microwave it for 5 seconds, and then put it on a Tesla coil? 8O

Great stuff. And it's not the only thing he zaps on his site...

Warning: Don't try this at home unless you're a qualified electrical engineer! Tesla coils and microwaved CDs can be very, very dangerous if not handled properly. (Actually, they can also be very dangerous even if you handle them properly...)

Do this at your own risk.

Cut a grape in half lengthwise, leaving a little bit of skin keeping the two halves together. Microwave on high (cut sides up) for 5-15 seconds (you'll know when it's done).

Pretty cool. Got that from an acquaintance.

This is about as bad as the guy who cleans his barbeque with liquid oxygen.

That's exactly what I was thinking, except I wouldn't accidentally want to set my house on fire as a result of those darned CDs. I'm a software engineer, not a hardware engineer.

Wow. There are definitely some interesting ways to spend your time.

I heard about a website for these AOL CD's, where you can send them in. I think the website has some kind of quota of 1 million CD's.

Yeah I heard from that one. There's actually a page with pictures on it...along with other microwave "tricks"....

But I thought it was cut-side down, and on a plate or sth.
