Default FlexWallet Update

http://www.twopeaks.com/Main/software/flexwallet/

Mel at Two Peaks Software has informed us of some enhancements to his popular FlexWallet data storage/encryption application.

Version 1.5 adds these features:

 Confirmation message before deleting cards.
When creating a new card, a warning is displayed if no description is entered.
 Faster and more stable.
Desktop version now supports live URLs in card notes.
Desktop version status bar now shows additional information, including number of categories and cards in the wallet.

Most interestingly, there is now a Template Gallery on the Two Peaks site for sharing customized FlexWallet card layouts. There, you'll find templates for easily keeping track of information like golf courses, wireless plans, employment history and clothing sizes. The templates are free, and you can even submit some that you've created yourself. This was already a pretty good little application, and these latest tweaks keep it on my list of personal favorites.

I really like the idea of sharing card templates. Good work. Unfortunately, I own CodeWallet already, and the idea of re-entering all my information isn't high on my list of things I want to do. Still wish the wallet companies would come up with an import/export feature - even CSV or something to get you from place A to to Point B.

Funny you should mention that. I contacted DeveloperOne and Ilium Software and asked them to standardize on an XML-based import/export based on the template that FlexWallet uses, and even offered them a chunk of free advertising on this site as an incentive to do it. DeveloperOne was quite open to the suggestion and said they'd consider doing it, but Ilium didn't seem very interestedin. Since I'm a CodeWallet user like yourself, what I hope to see is either:

a) Improvements to CodeWallet to make it on par with FlexWallet, or
b) XML-based export/import in all the digital wallet programs so we can pick the best program on the market and not have our data held hostage

We'll see what happens, but that was my attempt to use some of my influence to make things better for all Pocket PC users.

If CodeWallet comes out with an Export that FlexWallet can import than I would be very willing to try out FlexWallet. Otherwise I just have too much stuff that I really do NOT wanna re-enter.

I like the idea of sharing card templates, this will be a popular software if they offer the the Import/Export option in the package. I get stuck with the Ewallet with hundreds of cards in it, this will take weeks just to move it to Flexwallet. To win customers from other Wallet developers, Flexwallet should offer this option because it's a late comer to this Wallet market. I am not ready to move to other Wallet package unless they povide me with a conversion options.

The only thing I don't like FlexWallet is that it's password is digital only,
which makes me feel much less secure, compare to Ewallet.
What do you guys think? Maybe I'm too picky?

I do not like the idea of just a PIN like number. I like the ability to put whatever I want in for a password. CodeWallet lets me do this. So I guess I will be sticking with this app for a while longer. Maybe TwoPeaks will implement it in their next rev (1.6?).

Just in case anybody is interested, this weekend, Two Peaks is selling Flex Wallet for $4.95. With the Handango Discount Code 684F73, it brings the price down to $3.46. That's a pretty god deal if you ask me. 8O
