The Toshiba e740 Cradle Hack Page
"Why would you want to diliberately want to open up and hack your nicely made e740 cradle? Well here are some good reasons:
1. You hate having to carry your external power brick with you any where you want to sync and charge your e740.
2. You don't want to buy a second power supply.
3. You have a good electro-mechanical amptitude and an extra cradle and think this modification is what you need and would be really cool to do.
4. You are too cheap to buy a sync and charge cable because you only use it at home and really don't need another cable."

Sounds like fun. I think I'm gonna hold off until I have a spare cradle.

I hacked mine a while ago and I've had no problems. it only took a few minutes for the simplest version of the hack. Just remember not to plug in the regular power supply if use the simplest version, it'll feed power back down the USB.
Be brave, give it a try.
