Default Yahoo Without Avantgo

http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/

You can put Yahoo on your device with a Mobile Favorite pointing to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/ without going through Avantgo. The Yahoo Avantgo channel is about useless as it often forgets who you are and when you go to get your information, you are staring at default settings that are worthless to most.

I believe this is meant for cell phones but works perfectly on the Pocket PC screen. Even of you don't sync it, it is a good URL to have in your Mobile Favorites. I am deleting my regular My Yahoo links on my Pocket PC. They are quite painful over GPRS, even with images turned off.

Send a message via Yahoo to urologyhealth
Default My Yahoo

I've been using this for a while and it works great. I'm still unable to configure pocket outlook for sending my Yahoo mail, even though I can receive mail. I use the same settings as Outlook on my desktop, including outgoing mail needs authentication.

Interesting point, I can receive mail, but not if there is mail in the outbox to be sent. However, when in the cradle with all the same settings I can send email from Yahoo via Active Sync and my computer.

Perhaps the pocket outlook is not up to date, but I have EUU3 for my Casio E-200.

Any ideas would be appreciated--especially if someone has it working.

Just tried this out and looks good...BUT...

How do I set the Mobile Favourites to go more than 3 links deep. When I try to change that setting it will default to 3. That means I can't actually read the e-mails.

Any ideas?

Yea, I've been using this for quite some time now. It's a great site. EVMO is also a great site for finding PPC formatted sites.

I'm afraid I haven't used it for email, just news, movies, and weather...

The problem with the AvantGo Version caused by a Yahoo security issue. They require that users periodicly re-enter their user name and password info.

I would suggest non-wireless users complain to Yahoo directly.

Definitely - it isn't an Avantgo issue. It is Yahoo and forgetting cookies. This worked great 2-3 years ago, then they changed something on the Yahoo server. After 6 months of "yeah, we know, we made some changes and we still need to fix that cookie issue on the Avantgo channel" I just removed it.

this is front page news? i've been using this address for at least 6 months. i figured most PPC'ers knew about this otherwise i would have spread the word myself. since Yahoo took about free POP email access this has been the only way for me to check mail.

urologyhealth - do you pay Yahoo for POP access? it's not free anymore. as long as you subscribe to one of their plans with POP access Pocket Outlook should work. it does for me (i eventually broke down and shelled out the $$ to yahoo)

I've never used Mobile Favorites and would like to try what Ed/Kati are suggesting but I'm having trouble with the process. Here is what I am doing:

> Open Internet Explorer and click on Mobile Favorites icon at bottom of screen (next to Home icon).
> Select the Add/Delete option at bottom of screen. This is where confusion begins.
> Select Add option below the list of Mobile Favorites. Avantgo.com is already in the Name field. I can type over this but when I try to complete the URL address it will not let me edit.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? Thanx.
