PocketPrivacy
One of the criticisms often leveled at the Pocket PC by Palm users is that the Pocket PC OS doesn't have item-level security. On the Palm OS, where everything is just a database record (there's no real file system), securing records is a simple task. On the Pocket PC, however, it's a bit more complex. An enterprising developer has come up with a very slick solution that looks amazingly powerful, yet still simple to use. You can download a trial version or purchase the full application through our affiliate link.
"PocketPrivacy allows you to manage visibility of your private data on your Pocket PC device. With PocketPrivacy you can hide your personal private data: contacts, tasks, appointments, databases, document files, programs, voice recording files, images, photos, music files, notes, Pocket Word and Pocket Excel files."
Key features:
"Quick access to hide all Outlook data (contacts, tasks, events) and documents ("My documents" folder). Hide: contacts on your choice or by category, any tasks you wish, private appointments (Calendar events) Control the visibility of programs in "Programs" menu Choose documents and files from "My documents" folder and hide them Find databases, images, photos, music files, notes, Pocket Word and Pocket Excel files, voice recording files, and manage their visibility"

This app looks great. Now I can hide gift lists and other stuff I don't want my wife to see. As well as hiding sensitive work documents.

Nice! This another thing I missed when I switched to PPC. It's getting to where I don't miss anything about my old Palm .

Yeah, looks like there's no encryption on this thing.

"Hiding" items moves them out of the Outlook database and stored in a database on the device. Moving them out of the Outlook databases means that they will also disappear from the PC during the next sync.
This is, in my opinion, a fact that cannot be stressed enough. The old paradigm of Outlook on the PC being your primary backup is no longer true and you can lose data if you perform a hard reset without a recent backup. And I'm not even talking about the inconvenience of not having the items on the PC...
It is indeed a pretty clever app, but you should be aware of its side effects.
