Pocket PC Development in the Enterprise
I saw someone mention in the forum that they didn't know our very own Andy Sjostrom had a development book out, so I thought it was time to give Pocket PC Development in the Enterprise a plug! I've heard nothing but great things from people who have bought the book, so if you're looking to get into Pocket PC development, this book belongs right next to your keyboard.

8O Holy smokes! This thing looks amazing - I didn't know such an animal existed. From the quick skim I did on amazon, it seems this thing will take you from design to development of ppc applications - this could be just the primer i need to shake off my 11 year old dusty programming skills - the big question I have (and i love having potential access to the author via this site) is: is the book now (or nearly) obsolete due to the .net framework? :?:

Yes, this book covers a lot of ground. We're walking through the steps of identifying business scenarios to mobilize, system architecture, and coding. We spent more timing coding the samples than writing the book, actually.
From a pure code point of view, this book is partially going obsolete. We do cover some .NET aspects but most of what we know today were only guesses back when we wrote the book. Most developers will choose to use .NET programming for new projects. That said, our comments regarding methodology, business aspects, and system architecture still apply. I'd hire any developer who read and understood this book for a .NET project, if I was looking for talent! :wink:

Are you considering a future edition that emphasizes .NET?

I'm actually wondering the same thing. I've been thinking of developing PPC apps (for personal uses) for quite some time now, but never knew where quite to start.
Obviously, I'm another person that didn't know such a book existed. Thanks for the link!!
