Default New Dynamic DNS Clients

http://www.networkdweebs.com/stuff/dyndns/

Two new dynamic DNS clients were released before Christmas: Pocket DynDNS and Pocket NoIP. Pocket DynDNS and Pocket NoIP are available for a one-time fee of $9.95.

"The Pocket Dynamic DNS clients are clients for some of the more popular dynamic DNS services. Dynamic DNS is a free service provided by many different sites providing you the ability to use the same hostname regardless of the network address you have. For example, you can register mypocketpc.dyndns.org and update the IP address of mypocketpc.dyndns.org to your PDA as you move from network to network. We have a different clients for different services. The client is responsible for sending updates to the dynamic DNS server whenever the IP address of your device changes."

Features include:
Continuous background monitoring, with a forced update option
Ability to grab your IP address either from the handheld itself or by getting your outside IP address from checkip.dyndns.org
Only updates IP address if it has changed
 Full request/response logging
 Customizable refresh period
 Very small binary (~18k)

I think the lack of replies to this post answer the question in my mind as I read the post. "What's the point?"

I don't get why one would need a DynamicDNS client for a Pocket PC. Could anyone enlighten me with a practical application?

Here's one...If you have constant connectivity to the net you can run a voip app for the pocketpc, Or you can use a few of the netmeeting like clients on your pda. There's really not too many applications as of yet, but once I get my sprint vision card, I can have my friends call me on my ipaq.
