Default Resco Explorer 2003

http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp

I downloaded Resco Explorer this morning thinking I might switch to it. Then John sends us this email that it is 20% off this month. Turns out I have downloaded a brand new version with tons of new features. Cool! 8)

Features include:
Integrated 40 bit (RC) or 56 bit (DES) encryption. An encryption option is also added to Explorer as a shell extension on your Windows desktop so you can encrypt/decrypt files you transfer from your Pocket PC. You can purchase a stronger 128 bit module if you need that level of security.
Zip file support, including passwords and comments.
Built in JPG/GIF/BMP/PNG viewer. You can also view files in TXT, BIN or HEX format.
 Network browser
 Registry editor

Wow! Not too much left eh? But wait! That's not all. Order today using E8X51E as the order code and get 20% off. That makes it $15.96 instead of $19.99 for the month of December. It supports all processors and Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002 devices. Click here to purchase affiliate link.

Does this support individual document encryption, or folder based encryption? :? I am looking for a utility that will allow me to individually encrypt files or folders.

That XP style bar looks like Pelmar's Wisbar with the Full eXPerience Skin Pack.
BTW Resco Explorer 2003 is great. It even has registry import/export.

It supports individual file encryption only. You can select a folder and encrypt it, but all that does is encrypt all the individual files within the folder seperately, it won't combine them into one file. You can however, likewise decrypt all those files in the directory at once. It works pretty well.

True - but you can zip up a folder first, then encrypt the zip file.

I agree Resco just keeps on improving their software. They have managed to integrate Resco Zipper into Resco Explorer with 2003 (that's 1 less app that I have to install) and add a full featured registry editor as well. Now all they need to do is integrate Resco Picture Viewer and you will have 1 app with a suite of powerful/full-featured applets built-in.

Is the 2003 edition free to existing users (Doubt it.) or do we at least get a discount?

If you are an existing user you should have gotten an e-mail message with a code that you could use to get a 50% discount off the price. If you purchased Resco Explorer after Dec. 18, 2001, the upgrade is free and you should have gotten an e-mail from Resco if you qualify for a free upgrade.
