Default Canada Pocket PC Reviews the iPAQ 1910

http://www.canadapocketpc.com/h1910.htm

Peter Kotiadis, editor of Canada Pocket PC, has written a must-read review of the iPAQ 1910 (low price search). The review is very thorough, and if you're considering this device, this review will clinch whether or not you buy it.

"While all the talk swirling around HP recently has been about the highly anticipated iPAQ h5450, many discounted the new, low-cost, sporty iPAQ h1910 as nothing more than a token entry. Just when you thought Hewlett Packard was going to go off and simply design a "me-too" low-end device to fill in a previously ignored segment of the market, they come back with stunning gadget full of groundbreaking design and engineering attributes.

Cast me along with the other so-called pundits who form conclusions without having all the facts at hand. Opening the box of the new HP iPAQ h1910 Pocket PC helped me conclude that I can never pre-judge again."

This baby is adorable. I played around with it for a few seconds last week. The size and weight is incredible. It looks awesome. It is NOT the brick most other Pocket PCs have been.

Default MP3 Player

People who buy this PPC shoulg consider withMp3 instead of WMP as it is far smaller. RAM is precious.

Is it me or does h1910 look like XDA with its head chopped off? The resemblance is uncanny right down to the round corners and Dpad.

Looks pretty nice to me, tempting too. I'd probably think about getting one if it had true 64MB and SDIO. I guess I'll wait for the 56xx to come out then.

So, does it come with a case at all?

He says this early in the article:

Quote:
That was my first impression earlier this week when I removed the new h1910 from its box and protective sleeve.
but then lists this later:

Quote:
Small protective case not included
Plus, I don't see a case in the picture of all the included items. If it in fact doesn't come with one this is quite a big oversite on HP's part (since they are targeting a market that doesn't buy accessories)

Yeah well It might be worth buying if they didn't play the RAM trick the other manufacturers have done as well. Advertise 64MB RAM, but block off 16 for the OS

I looked at one today and guess what only 46.5MB RAM usable. That last 16 or so is blocked off for the OS.

I think he was just referring to the packing case, the moulded plastic. That got me the first time around as well.

Confirmed: It ships with no case. Not even a cheap slip case, nothing, nada.
But there are reports that cases from the Palm V and M515 etc. fit quite nicely.

yeah, we already knew that this was the case. hp even advertises it on their website.
another thing to note about the 1910 is that the headphone jack is not the standard 3.5mm but rather it's a 2.5mm, so if you don't like the included earbuds and want to use your own, you'll have to go buy an adaptor.
that said, the 1910 is a very awesome peice of machinery. if i'd had $300 to throw down when i was at compusa the other day i'd have one of these babies on my desk right now.
