EverQuest for Pocket PC Available
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=48757
EverQuest was released yesterday and can be purchased through Handango (affiliate link). When I started writing this post, the number of downloads was 42, and as I finish it is 63. That's more than one download per minute! Given that there is no free trial version :? , I can literally see the queue lining up to buy! It would be very interesting to hear from you who have bought the game! Is the single player limitation "show stopping" or is the game still fun to play? Worth $19.99? Tell us!
"EverQuest for the Pocket PC -- Episode 1 You're in our world now... on the Pocket PC! Something is amiss on the outskirts of Freeport. The undead are wandering through the Commonlands and rumors of a powerful necromancer raising an army of skeletons and zombies fill the air. Can you save the city from this looming peril?"

Someone help me out here. I have never played Everquest on the PC - I just don't have time for big games like that. I want something for the Pocket PC that is as much adventure (or more) than action. I don't want a hack-em-up game. Given there is no trial available, I'll have to rely on those that have purchased it. On a scale of 1 to 10 (Doom is 1, Myst is 10) where does Everquest fall?

Could this be an indicator...
Could this be an indicator that Sony is going to dumb Palm OS and base their next Clies on PPC instead?
I mean why didn't they made the game for the Palm Os instead if they do Palm OS handhelds (and by the way their OS 5 clie can handle such advanced games as this).

No, I don't think so. Sony just has independent business units. The music division puts copy protection on CDs and this causes trouble for the consumer device group wher customers can't rip audio data into their MP3 players...

Yeah, I wouldn't read much into this. MS makes an sync conduit for Entourage for Palm units on Macs but not Pocket PCs.

It's' working great on my T-Mobile Pocket PC phone. I played a lot of Everquest way back when, and this is a very different game. It shares Everquest's setting and that's about it. It plays like a slower paced Diablo, and I'm quite enjoying it!

Hehehe.. Wow this game is soooo cool! If you play everquest it's even better. It uses many of the same sounds, the laughing skellies, the "DING!". There are ovens and potery wheels around the town, you can't use them but nice touch. There is even an arena where you can kill a bear and get 25 gold.
No, it is not Everquest for the pc. Totally different game, but a very fun game based on the Everquest world. I don't believe I saw it mentoned anywhere but you can create up to 4 seperate characters.
Other than the cool EQ factor, this is probably one of the best playing Pocket PC games I've tried. Runs great on my e740.
So, if you like any kind of RPG game or love EQ you NEED this game.
It was well worth $19.99.
If any one cares I started a Druid. You have summon wolf pet, thorns, SOW, minor heal, cure disease, resist disease, burn, and an armor buff. So I would guess that the rest or the characters have abilities and spells strait from the real EQ.
Go on, get it. You know you want to.

Yeah, it was nice. You can memorize you spells that armor you and up your speed and resistances. Then you can switch to your attack spells or healing. You can have 4 spells or items in the little bar to the side. There is a target button that cycles through the near targets and an attack button that makes your character use his/her wepon automatically. You don't have to worry about swinging which gives you time to cast your spells. Then you can loot the corpse and sell or use the stuff you get. You can buy new clothes and wepons. At certain levels you get points to increase your spells and abilities.
I am only level 2 right now so i am not sure how envolved the quests are. Right now I am supposed to kill all the dark elf skeletons and bring "anything interesting I find" to this guy in town.
I have lots of cool games from my Pocket PC but I only play them for a few minutes every once in a while then I get bored with it.
This game lookes as it will definetly hold my attention for some time.
It is what i have wanted for some time. Most PPC games you play until you die then start over. Like Super Mario Bros. With a PPC you usually don't have lots of time in one setting to play a game. Playing smails between meetings or what ever. You can only get so far in 5 minutes then you have to quit and start over.
With EQPPC you can play when you like as long as you like and have actually made some progress in the game.
Needless to say I am very happy with this game not only because I like Everquest but mostly because of how well it works with the PPC lifestyle, I can actually make progress in the game, and maybe have to actually thing of a play strategy to survive instead of just point and click.
