Default O2/T-Mobile/AT&T SX56 3.5mm/2.5mm Headset Adaptor

http://www.pocketpctechs.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=PPCPADPT01

Here's a cool accessory for your Pocket PC Phone Edition! These device us a 2.5 mm audio jack, which is good for hands-free kits but not for standard 3.5 mm headphones. I bought an adaptor at Radio Shack that lets me connect standard headphones, but it sticks out the bottom and is quite awkward. This looks like a good solution for that.

"This adapter converts the proprietary 4 conductor Pocket PC Phone Jack to a STD 2.5mm headset jack and 3.5mm Stereo Audio Jack. The adapter cable is approximately 5" long."

Default Stereo Headphones and Headset - 3.5 mm

Motorola sells a headset that is 3.5 mm with a microphone.

I used it on my Thera for the phone and listinging to music.

Works very well.

If this obvious sorry - but would that allow two sets of headphones to be connected like an old school audio splitter thus allowing the missus to listen and watch mp3 / mpeg at the same time.

Not unless you had one set of headphones that is 3.5mm and another that is 2.5mm. Possible, but unlikely.

You probably want something like this:
