Poor Club Pocket PC, it never seems to be able to find it's niche :\

I'd have to agree. It's a poor man's community site when compared to the likes of Pocket PC Thoughts.
Indeed, you could even say that it's not much more than an MS propoganda machine, which now appears to double up as a support centre. And as far as propoganda machines go, I don't really rate it, either. You might not find any negative articles there, but then I don't remember seeing too much cool stuff there to make up for it.
Overall, I think that it's a wasted opportunity that reflects a lack of clear focus and planning.

I don't think it is really meant to be a community site. It is a place for MS to give information on the PPC in a way that can reach normal people, not the cryptic techno way the Knowledge Base works. And the solutions provided are made up of questions that are asked daily in the .pocketpc.* newsgroups.
It also has a feedback link that works. I happen to know some of the people that read the other side of it.

for the first time, there's one place with all the support / step by step help for new users. most people need that, for you pro-users sites like this is the way to go (microsoft does do things to help communities sites as well) it's a part of a bigger picture.
cheers,

microsoft wants sites like pocketpcthoughts to keep doing great, the club pocket pc site is post-purchase support. ms helps sites like thoughts all the time, it's all part of a very cool ecosystem.
check out the support section there are literally 100's of step by steps.
i answer a jillion questions in the newsgroups, now i can link to these.
cheers,

I still think I got royally ripped off sending MS money for Club Pocket PC. Didn't get a whole heck of a lot out of what? 30 buck? 40 bucks? Can't remember anymore how much I spent on the premium option. A nice multifunction pen/stylus, a couple of window decals, a shirt, a cute little members card, a free copy of Handbase later that year, and a funky PDA/accessories case that has fallen apart on me. :?
Dat'll be the last time I do that. Fool me once...fool me twice.
