Things I like with Pocket Controller part I
http://www.soti.net/
I have just discovered Pocket Controller, and feel I must be one of the last persons to do so... Essentially, Pocket Controller lets you control your Pocket PC remotely from a desktop PC. This is invaluable if you are developer, for example. Pocket Controller is so feature rich that I have decided to post "Things I like with Pocket Controller" during the coming days. The first post is about the skins! You can skin Pocket Controller any way you'd like! See below!

I use pocket controller almost every day and I agree, it's a fantastic app. I need to upgrade to version 3.

Cool but I stay with the freeware
Nice tool but I use Remote Display for PocketPc from Microsoft. It is a little slow but its for free.
Pocket Controller has skins and the Command Prompt mode extra. But it is not enought extra features to make me pay for the program.
Still very slick looking with the skins. 8)

I've used the remote tool, too... and grew tired of the instability, lack of Swedish keyboard support, lack of Explorer support, lack of... oops. I won't reveal what my next posts will be about...

Is Pocket Controller faster than the free MS one? The integrated clipboard would be really nice, but I don't know if its worth $24.95.

I wrote an extensive review of Pocket Controller in April for pocketnow.com... here's the link if anyone would like more details.
http://www.pocketnow.com/cgi-bin/dir...reviews&id=243
One thing that I found particularly handy is the support for virtual displays. By using Pocket Controller with Nyditot Virtual Display (or purchasing Virtual Desktop from SOTI, which bundles the two products), you can work on your Pocket PC using desktop size displays. If you set NVD to 640 x 480, for example, the window displayed on your PC for the Pocket PC will be at that resolution. My review covers this and includes screenshots. Pretty cool stuff...
Another big thing is that support is absolutely first rate. Through the review process, I've gotten to know Carl Rodriguez of SOTI, and he's been a great help in answering questions and helping me to master the huge assortment of useful features in Pocket Controller. Finally, SOTI is by no means resting on its laurels... Pocket Controller is frequently updated with new useful features.
Strongly recommended...

Is it possible to set up a cradle connection and a modem connection at the same time with this software?
I've tried using eVB's spy utility to find the dial terminal's handle, but I haven't been able to have the two connections simultaneously.

RE: Things I like with Pocket Controller part I
I agree... It's a great application!
I use it to run my demo apps with a PocketPC connected to a peer-to-peer network with my laptop (with a black background) and just a BIG iPAQ at the wall... This give me a freedom to walk around and it looks great for the audience.

Arg!
Come ON people!!!
$24.95 "too much" for a great application. How are Pocket PC Software dvelopment companies EVER going to make a stake for themselves if we pitter patter about a measly $25!!!
We have NO problem blowing hundreds a year on useful desktop applications, but when it comes to the Pocket PC, people seem to have to go through a huge due-dilligence process if the app breaks the $10 barrier!
As enthusiasts, we NEED to get over this stigma so that companies like SOTI continue to develop useful applications like Pocket Controller, and other larger companies hop into the market.
On a side note: www.cecommunity.com - Hosted Remote Control/Support/Sales/Training solution for the Pocket PC.
Sort of like GotoMyPC.com for the PocketPC.
Some neat feature I noticed quickly on my free demo- web based UI
Remote Registry Editing
Remote Patch Installations
It's client/server, not peer to peer, so firewalls are a non-issue :P

Much faster, more stable, and you hit on my personal favorite feature.. the clipboard. I'm constantly buffering something from my desktop over to my iPaq or vice versa. I run Pocket Controller on both my home and work desktops. yeah, its worth it.
